What To Bring
Camp Wooten is in an isolated location, but has many of the basic necessities, like fully equipped bathrooms and food service areas.
There are cabins available, but plenty of space for tenting if you prefer. Regardless, you will need to bring sleeping bags and pillows, a flashlight, a towel, and a modest swimming suit if you desire to swim.
Toiletry items such as soap, shampoo, and personal effects you need to provide for yourself (although the camp does provide toilet paper!).
Please note: If you find upon your arrival at camp that you have forgotten a critical medication or medical device (e.g. an Epi-Pen), you will be asked to go immediately to the nearest pharmacy to obtain the necessary item.* Although there is a pharmacy in Dayton, it may be necessary to go to Clarkston.
There is plenty of room for athletic activity, so any sports equipment (balls, gloves, tennis rackets) you like is a good idea, along with your favorite (portable) musical instrument so you may join our Bahá'í band for morning and evening fellowship and singing.
Your favorite camp chair might also be in order as only lightweight metal folding chairs are available at the camp. You could also consider a cushion or pillow to soften those folding chairs.
If you are staying in a cabin, you may wish to bring a fan to use at night.
Please make a special note regarding insect repellent, as there is a real possibility that the West Nile Virus will eventually reach our idyllic corner of the world.
*CAUTION: Sheltering Branch Baha’i School is held at a remote location. Acute emergency medical care is 2 hours away. Individuals with serious medical conditions are advised not to attend. Please also be advised that there is no air conditioning and temperatures may be hot. Please take this into consideration if heat poses a health challenge.
